Objective of MPH

The Department of Public Health offers Master of Public Health (MPH) program for health professionals in order to ensure health (physical, mental, social, and spiritual wellbeing) for global population with an objective to excel the attainment of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Universal Health Coverage (UHC). Master of Public Health (MPH) degree is recognized as most widely accepted credential in the profession of Public Health which addresses different aspects and policies related to public health, research and development in health issues and public health administration. Public Health, an important concern of today’s world, has evolved in response to universal needs of people around the world. At Premier University, we offer a 1.5 year program on credit based dual semester system spread over an 18 months (3 semesters) duration. The prime objective of MPH program of Premier University is to ensure the development and accomplishment of advanced public health education through most updated curriculum in practice in the country. We emphasize on involvement of students in active and direct learning to solve problem and the acquisition of skills essential in this profession. 

Public health is a field for people who care about the greater good of human beings. If that sounds self-important, consider this: Millions of people are alive today, thanks to a handful of public health initiatives, such as vaccination programs, motor vehicle safety laws, restrictions on the use of tobacco, family planning, safe food and sanitation issues, mother and pediatric health projects, prevention and cure of infectious diseases and clean air and water standards. The field of public health is constantly evolving in response to the needs of communities and populations around the world. The mission of public health is to improve the conditions and behaviors that affect health so that all people can attain it. That mission includes not only the practice of public health policy, but the research of public health issues and the education of future leaders who eventually will translate that research into practices and policies to improve the health of people regionally, nationally and globally. 

The work of public health professionals is important because public health initiatives affect people every day in every part of the world. It addresses broad issues that can affect the health and well-being of individuals, families, communities, populations and societies (both now and for generations to come). Master of Public health has a real and lasting positive effect on people, e.g.; helps promote a healthy environment, is a moral and ethical imperative, these program have led to; increased life expectancies, worldwide reductions in infant and child mortality, eradication or reduction of many communicable & non-communicable diseases, increasing health consciousness and also health education among different community people. The Master of Public Health (MPH) degree prepare students to help improve the health of the general public. However, they come at this goal from very different perspectives. An MPH program trains students to become public health practitioners who work in government, at non-profits, or in industry to work with communities, implement and evaluate public health programs, and/or help raise public awareness of best health care practices. 

Master of Public Health (MPH) under the Department of Public Health is a multidisciplinary degree focuses on health policy and administration which requires in-depth research and development on public health issues. The Department aims at producing skilled Public Health professional for national and international arena to meet increasing society’s interest to ensure healthy quality life. To cope with the rapidly changing scenarios in this field, updating the course curricula, expanding laboratory facilities and revising teaching and/or research materials will be regular activities of Public Health Department. The Master of Public Health (MPH) is a unique program that offers innovative and applied education in disease prevention and health promotion. The learners of our MPH program will get involved in research based studies on the critical analysis of public health problems of the 21st century.
