Orientation Program of the Department of Public Health at Premier University.
An orientation program for the 9th batch of the Master of Public Health (MPH) under the Department of Public Health of Premier University was held at the university’s GEC campus. The event took place on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at 3:30 PM.
The honorable Vice-Chancellor of Premier University, Professor S. M. Nasrul Quadir, was present as the Chief Guest of the ceremony. The Special Guest was Dr. Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, Member of the Board of Trustees of Premier University and Divisional Director (Health), Chattogram Division. The program was presided over by Dr. Mohammad Jahedul Islam, Chairman of the Department of Public Health. Other Distinguished Guests included Dr. Aung Swi Prue Marma, former Health Director of Chattogram Division; Mr. Abu Salem Mohammad Noman, Joint District Judge (Lakshmipur Judge Court); Dr. Rajib Palit, Assistant Director of Khagrachari Sadar Hospital; and Dr. Tasnim Uddin Chowdhury, Assistant Proctor of Premier University.
In his speech, the Chief Guest, Professor S. M. Nasrul Quadir, said,
“Public health is a field directly connected to improving the quality of human life. Through this program, students will gain the ability to identify public health issues, conduct research, and implement effective solutions. In today’s world, infectious diseases, environmental risks, and mental health problems are steadily increasing. I firmly believe that the MPH program of our university will produce competent, humane, and responsible public health professionals who will play a vital role in the welfare of the nation and society in the future.”
The honorable guest, Dr. Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, stated,
“The MPH program not only provides academic knowledge but also fosters a mindset to work for the welfare of people and society. Through this program, students can play a leading role in raising health awareness and contributing to public welfare initiatives.”
The Chairman of the Department, Dr. Mohammad Jahedul Islam, said,
“Public health is not merely an academic discipline; it is the backbone of society. It impacts every individual, every family, and every community—through fighting diseases, promoting mental health, addressing health inequalities, reducing environmental pollution, and ensuring global nutrition.”
Faculty members and students of the Department of Public Health were present at the program.
